🌟 Be the Change Agent You Wish to See 🌟

🌟 Be the Change Agent You Wish to See 🌟

Posted on 2/19/2025

Recently, I learned about what it means to be a Change Agent—someone who inspires, challenges, and advocates for meaningful change in their community, workplace, and personal circles.

In Mi’kmaq culture, we are taught the 7 Sacred Teachings:

  • 💖 Love
  • ðŸŠķ Respect
  • ðŸĶ… Courage
  • 🌊 Honesty
  • ðŸĒ Wisdom
  • ðŸŒą Humility
  • 🌞 Truth

These teachings remind us that change is not just about individual actions, but about collective healing and growth.

But let’s be honest—change is scary.

Fear of failure, fear of conflict, or simply the fear of stepping outside our comfort zones can keep us stuck. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “This is just the way things are,” even when we know deep down that things could be better.

The truth?

Fear doesn’t mean you’re not ready.

In fact, many of the most impactful changes in history started with someone who was terrified—but determined. Being a Change Agent isn’t about having all the answers or being in a position of power—it’s about having the courage to start conversations, question the status quo, and take action, no matter how small.

In Mi’kmaq teachings, Courage (Mlkikn) is not about being fearless—it’s about facing fear with an open heart. It means standing up even when your voice shakes because you know your community, your family, and your future deserve better.

  • ✅ Speak up when you see injustice.
  • ✅ Support someone who feels unheard.
  • ✅ Challenge harmful practices in your workplace.
  • ✅ Offer new solutions when people say, “That’s just how we’ve always done it.”

Change doesn’t have to be monumental to be meaningful.
Even a small spark can start a fire. ðŸ”Ĩ

So, to anyone who feels stuck because of fear, I say this:
It’s okay to be uncomfortable. It’s okay to be scared.
But don’t let that stop you.

Your voice, your actions, your presence—they matter.

Whether it’s at work, in your home, or among your friends, you have the power to make a difference. And guess what? You don’t have to do it alone.

Let’s inspire each other. Let’s support each other.
Let’s be the Change Agents our world needs—starting today.

As the Mi’kmaq say, “M’sit No’kmaq”—All My Relations.
Because every action we take ripples through our community and future generations.
